During this workshop, the class had to elaborate a series of cards on the theme of the board game « Who is it ? ». We had to choose a real or fictional character in order to guess it using 6 cards. So I choose the main character Paul Atréides form the book Dune (Frank Herbert).
For beginning this work, everybody had to analyse his character and his universe in order to understand the elements that represent him and that can help with the development part. In the world of Dune, the people of the desert of Arrakis, the Fremen speak a fictional language, the chakobasa. A few words are use for designate the main character and show his importance in the story. So I made a list of them and incorporated them into my final design.
We also had to make moodboards to choose the direction. I decided to use paint and add some noise to remind the desert of Arrakis. Once development has been completed, I started testing. I wanted to represent a storm that gradually calms down to evoke the danger of the desert and the calm it can also offer.
In the elaboration of my cards, I decided to only use the color black, which represents the hair of my character. After a few attempts, I used Photoshop and then InDesign to integrate my texts and test the typography.
