The goal of this project was to highlight everyday objects in a surprising and captivating way. The light played a key role in my project.
For this theme, I chose to focus on plastic, more specifically PET bottles. These are materials that are deeply rooted in our daily lives and that we don’t necessarily pay attention to. With this project, I wanted to show that even waste could be interesting and have a story to tell, a bit like the New Realists.
I chose to take photos from above on a light table. My goal was to play with the superposition of the bottles to create counter-forms and abstract shapes. During one of the sessions, I placed an orange background to contrast with the blue of the PET bottles, it reminds me of Pop-art. I also experimented with plastic bags. I deliberately photographed from very close up so that we wonder what we are observing. It just goes to show that with simple everyday objects, we can create powerful images that attract curiosity.
